About Sandra Shaw's Handprinted Fabrics

I work from a small studio in Newcastle New South Wales, creating a variety of handprinted fabrics that find their way around the world.
Studies in Visual Arts created a passion for printmaking, and this was followed by establishing a small studio from which I have been screenprinting fabrics for many years.
Exploring other techniques I began working with an acid printing technique known as Devore, which burns designs into silk velvet.
I have worked with this process for many years and in 2009 one of my scarf designs was selected as the Corporate gift for the G'day Australia premier event in New York, in that year.
I continue to develop my range, using cottons, velvet, silk jersey, and hemp.
My designs are strong and varied.
I love the rich velvets for a vintage feel, and bold graphic prints for fun funky styles.
